2014: My Year in Books

Happy new year, everyone! I hope you were at some lovely parties yesterday and were able to celebrate the advent of the new year appropriately!

Here's my list of books that I read over the last year (minus a few that I wasn't able to find on goodreads ...). In total I read 80+ books and around 19,000 pages - I think this year will go down as the busiest ever, reading-wise, for me!

Some of the things that aren't listed here would be short stories that I read on their own, without reading the entire collection - such as A Case of Identity by Arthur Conan Doyle. How's your year been, reading-wise? Anything that I have to read in 2015? ;)

  1. And here I was...celebrating the sixth book finished just after Christmas. I feel ashamed for reading so little. Maximum of books 2014 are nine, because I read three picture books to my little cousin.
Let’s see if I can list all of the books:
    • John Green – The fault in our stars
    • John Shirly – Bioshock Rapture
    • Terry Pratchett and Stephen Baxter – The Long Mars
    • Niki Glattauer – Leider hat Lukas…
    • Douglas Adams – Per Anhalter durch die Galaxis
    • Jane Austen – Mansfield Park (Second time reading)
Terry Pratchett – Raising Steam (Not sure if 2014 or 2013)
    The Picture Books:
    • Some Princess Story
    • Kleiner Eisbär: Wohin fährst du, Lars?
    • A book about the Christmas story in rhymes
    I started some other books:
Douglas Adams – Das Restaurant am Ende des Universums
    Jane Austen – Emma
    Kipling – The Jungle Books
Grahame – The Wind and the Willows
And I reread some parts of other books like Jane Austen books or “North and South” or “Tochter des Nils”.
I hope 2015 will get more productive in reading. :-)

    1. Hab natürlich erst jetzt dein comment bemerkt -_- Soooorry!

Don't feel ashamed - I went book crazy last year I think O_O! This year will be a lot less I imagine - I think I just wanted to see how many books I could get myself to read in a year. And I was a bit shocked myself :P. This year will be all about reading sloooowly, and really enjoying the books ;).

I like your list though! It's very diverse :)! Why Mansfield Park? (I mean, I know WHY, but why not Pride and Prejudice? Or any of the other novels?)

I have STILL not read North and South D: Shocking, I know ...

  2. Thanks for liking my list. Mansfield Park was because of the lecture. I read the book before, but I did not remember it at all. Pride and Prejudice on the other hand I know very well (the German Edition). And North and South is a must ... but we can watch the series before if you want to. 4 Episodes of about an hour. I watched it before reading the book. And Mr. Thornton is played by the same actor who plays Thorin in the Hobbit. ^^

    1. Yeah, of course! And you ended up liking it, didn't you? :P

Gah, I really have been wanting to read North and South since forever ... but it's such a long book xD! One of these days! The film adaptation sounds fun (I love Richard Armitage :)!) ... don't know if I won't to get spoiled though .... (Although on the other hand I might not get around to reading it for a long time to come anyway xD!)

    2. Yes, I like it. And you can come and watch it with me anytime. Maybe not all of it in one go. As for spoilers. I liked reading the book even though I already watched the film. It wasn't like they messed everything up big time.

    3. That is something I could see myself doing soon, in that case ;)! Would be cool!
